Spotter Information

During periods of severe weather, WEMA Weather Ops relies on trained spotters for reporting ground observations of the weather. Our spotters are trained through the National Weather Service SKYWARN program. Once severe weather is forecast, our spotters are alerted to possible activation. During a severe weather event, spotters contact our Weather Ops center and give reports such as wind speed, hail size, lightning, etc.

For more information on becoming a WEMA Weather Ops Spotter, please contact our Weather Ops group to begin SKYWARN training or check the EDUCATION link for upcoming weather classes.
